The Trailer for the long awaited DLC for Elden Ring Nightreign — From Software’s roguelike spinoff of the critically acclaimed Elden Ring, has been released. Here’s what we know from watching the Trailer:
Release Date
Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows launches December 4th, 2025, which for Fromsoft time, is a refreshingly short wait. I for one am ecstatic for the new content, as Nightreign has started to collect dust in my steam library due to the lack of content — I personally didn’t care too much for the Deep of Night mode, but the prospect of new bosses and new nightfarers has my interest peaked once again, and From Software rarely disappoints, speaking of…
What’s in the Trailer?
The Trailer pans across some new landscapes, ones that remind of Dark Souls 3 and the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC to me, which probably means new biomes, maybe, from the look of the ruined castles, new encounter types as well.
The trailer then shows the character Ironeye, the playable class in the game that uses a Bow, fighting what appears to be a Fire Knight from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC — This is confirmation that we will face even more new enemies from the land of shadow in this DLC.
After this, some clips are shown which don’t seem to have anything new in them, showing off the existing playable classes in Duchess, Recluse, Wylder, and Revenant, the Latter two fighting two of the existing Nightlord Bosses from the game. although the Cave Duchess is in does look peculiar, and the Knight enemy seen there isn’t usually found in those caves, so perhaps this is another new encounter type.
The Dialogue in this section also mentions a “Dreglord” which from my observation seems to be the central antagonistic force of the DLC, similar to the Nightlord in the base game.
after that, a Large spectral landscape with pointy trees and massive crystals is shown — this looks like a new Shifting Earth to me, and it reminds of the Ancestor Spirits in Elden Ring and Base Nightreign, perhaps they’ll have a dedicated area, or we’ll see something new — Blue crystals could also mean Glintstone, so it could be a magic based area as well.
A Treelike being that resembles the Giants that walk about in the background during the later Nights is then shown, though it seems to be a bit smaller.
New Nightfarers
Our first clip of one of the two new Nightfarers is shown here — they appear to be a Dextrous, shadowy warrior that wields a Great Hammer. They use an ability, I suspect to be their ultimate, which causes them to fly toward the boss (The boss being Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, which is either a part of the Eternal City shifting earth like in the basegame or is part of this new shifting earth I spoke about previously) and generate a sea-urchin like attack from their hand — the tentacles almost remind of Bloodborne, especially coupled with the Nightfarers dark clothing choice.
The Next Nightfarer is shown in the next scene, seemingly a Scholar of some sort. The Community had discussed leaks regarding a Nightfarer with the codename “Buffer”, and I believe this Nightfarer would be that one, as he appears to utilize Incantations to debuff his enemies, and uses what would seem to be a thrusting sword, implying this will be another lighter caster-type character, like Duchess or Revenant.
Old Friends in new Places
The Next scene shows the Nightlord boss Gladius, Beast of Night in an unfamiliar spot, this could possibly mean that he’ll join the bosses that can Raid the player during the nights. Next, we see the boss Divine Beast Dancing Lion from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in some kind of Arena, possibly part of another new shifting earth or other feature. After that, a group of angel-like figures emerge in what looks to be a dusty arena not unlike the Nightlord Arenas, which could possibly mean these are part of a new Nightlord boss fight, which has me both terrified and excited.
The Abysswalker Returns
What possibly has me the most excited in this trailer though, is the very next scene, which shows the legendary boss from the Dark Souls Artorias of the Abyss DLC, Artorias the Abysswalker — He’s only shown for a few seconds, but this is confirmation that he will be Joining the Nameless King, Gaping Dragon, Dancer of the Boreal Valley and other returning bosses from the Dark Souls Trilogy.
The ending also teases another new Nightlord boss. The ending card also confirms prior Speculation, telling us that the DLC includes two new Nightfarers, two new Nightlord Bosses, a new shifting earth “And more.” It also confirms that the DLC will likely be paid, as it advertises an Elden Ring Nightreign Deluxe Edition.
Conclusion
all in all, This is a very full trailer, and for those like me who are avid fans of From Software and Elden Ring Nightreign, it looks like we’ll be eating good this December.
