The gaming internet has been on fire these past few weeks after the divisive announcement of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a fully fledged Unreal Engine remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. Personally, I’m very excited, but also skeptical, I’ve never really been on the 343 industries hater side of things, although my personal favorite halo game was always Halo 3.

This rumor comes from X user @leaks_infinite, who has thus far been accurate in the Halo leaking community, having already leaked Campaign Evolved’s existence and several other proven accurate things regarding Halo Infinite. I’m of the opinion that he’s probably being payed to do this, Helldivers has a similar leaker, as does DOOM, I think this secrecy and “leaking” wouldn’t be so prolific if he weren’t set up to do this by Halo Studios, but that’s just my own speculation.

Leaks_Infinite stated “Halo 2 & Halo 3 are being remade, yes they will have sprint. No multiplayer, only campaign. Full remakes. Multiplayer is going to be Halo 7.” This is, admittedly, not much to go on, but the prospect of a full remake of Halo 3 fills my mind with imagination.

It has been confirmed that Campaign Evolved is going to be coming to PlayStation platforms as well as Xbox, and presumably, these games would follow suit. This in and of itself has been divisive, but I personally think this has the opportunity to introduce a whole section of the gaming community to stories that they’ve as of yet not been able to discover.

However, I’m also not blind to the obvious vitriol that 343 Industries, now Halo Studios has garnered over their handling of the Halo franchise, and I’m hit with a subtle fear that if Campaign evolved doesn’t sell well, it may be the nail in the coffin for Halo, as Microsoft has already been very trigger-happy with shutting down companies in response to underperforming games.

For the moment, all we have on the Halo 2 and 3 Remakes is hearsay from a reliable source, but only time will tell how this all pans out.
